Description
Jets of water erupt into space and fall as snow in this view from the interior of one of the “tiger stripe” rills near the south pole of Enceladus. The satellite Mimas transits Saturn in the background. The original 18x24-inch oil on Masonite painting was photographed and then reformatted and embellished in Photoshop and Corel Painter. The image is an attempt to imagine the complex features that might be formed by the rain of high velocity ice in this low-gravity environment.
